C.O.N.F.U.S.E.D

Life is full of things we may not understand or things we haven't seen before. From our vantage point we can only see so far. It's not until we stand back and look up that we get a clearer perspective.

Nothing falls to us here on earth that hasn't passed under God's watchful eye. When we are confused or upset by the things we see around us, our first response should... be to turn our thoughts heavenward.

Like the children of Israel, we may find ourselves in a fog, shivering in the cold dampness of the morning. But as the dew disappears, we will see that God has not forgotten us. He has been with us throughout the night. He continues to provide for us at every turn, feeding us in body and spirit.

Daily we are strengthened for life's journey by the blessings he gives. Even when we are in the barren deserts, we are nourished by the bread of heaven. God will send us peace and comfort when we look to Him in prayer.

May the Lord bless u as u read the above. ^^

Morning Thoughts - Marriage

Hahas... the title of this blog entry seems a bit misleading after xiaoshi has typed it out.
hur hur hur... but thats not what ur focus should be at! ^^

Nowadays pple treat marriage... sigh.. Sadly.. its like they look down their noses at marriage. "What good is a piece of paper anyway?"

Well.. xiaoshi feels that actually, the wedding ceremony and the piece of paper mean a great deal. They are directly related to the Bible. The Bible reminds husbands how they ought to view their wives. It tells each husband to remember, "she is your companion and your wife by covenant" (Malachi 2:14).

The essence of marriage is a covenant. It is an agreement in which we make binding promises. Marriage is not sexual union. Teenagers may have sex. That is... fornication. Adults may have sex with someone not their spouse. That's not marriage either. It's adultery.

Marriage is a covenant relationship. A man and woman stand before God and among their friends. They exchange vows. They promise each other, before God, they will always be faithful to each other.

This covenant is a covenant of companionship. Husbands and wives promise to be fast friends and good companions. They promise to talk together about the ups and downs of life and to walk together through the good times and the bad times of life. They promise to be companions for life.

Xiaoshi was reading all these.. then came the realisation.
Its truely a sad thing that pple don't enter into a r/s with the right purposes in mind. What has happened to this generation? The selfish desires of one can actually lead to disasters to the upcoming generation. When would they start to think? Certainly.. immature pple are flooding the streets and its really a challenge not to be involved with them.

Morning Thoughts

xiaoshi came across this, and thought that is really so true. sometimes we thought we know what we are doing.. end up, we gave excuses to pass by everything. search your heart as you are reading this. you never know. i realised.. i fell into something without realising it.. and even gave myself excuses when being corrected. this can happen to anyone. yup. enjoy this reading!

Contributed by Melanie Schurr:

"For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life.." -Proverbs 6:23

A young man went out from his back yard at night in hope of finding worms for the following day's fishing trip. He had lived in this area for many years, and seemed to know every nook and cranny, so saw no need to take a flashlight with him. "The light of the moon was good enough for my grand-pappy, so its good enough for me!" he thought to himself as he treaded down the long and narrow cobblestone path which lead from his yard and in to the grassy field behind his home.

Sure enough, an hour went by and the young man indeed found his fill of night crawlers, knowing just were this and that rock or stump was located to look under. He'd lift the rock, and as soon as he saw that familiar wriggle, he'd quickly snatch the worm for its next mornings duties.

Just as the young man decided it was time to return, he spied a large log. "Just one more," he thought. As usual, he pushed the moss-covered log over with his boot, and upon seeing that familiar wriggle, plunged his hand down... only to let out a shrill scream! What he grasped was not a night crawler, but a small snake! He had been bit!

As he could not see what type of snake it was, the young man dropped his jar of worms, and ran like a mad-man out of the field, tripping and falling along the way.

Real Life Application: Chances are, if this young man had brought a flashlight with him he would have been able to see the danger ahead.

Most of us don't intend bad things to happen, but they can, and do, especially when we are unprepared and approach certain matters unwisely. We may think we have everything under complete control, and fully understand the consequences to our words and actions, but do we?

As the above Bible verse implies, God gave us His word to provide us with wisdom; to act as a light in a world of darkness. Just as it is unwise, even dangerous, to walk at night without a suitable light source, so too, should we invite and allow God's illumination to guide and protect us throughout our life.

Xiaoshi's thinking - Afternoon

Sometimes our lives take a turn into the darkness.
We never knows when we might plunge into that black hole, not knowing which way to turn, or even being able to function at a normal level.
We may be in the grips of grief, depression, illness, alcoholism or drug abuse.
We may have fears, emotional or physical violations, or a deep sadness.

No matter the cause, the effect can be so overwhelming and overbearing we feel overwhelmed beyond belief. When we experience these times of utter helplessness and we can barely put one foot in front of the other... However, God will send slivers of light into our lives. He will be there, so we may dwell in safety.(Ps.4:8) These slivers of light maybe in the form of a note, or flowers received, a dinner delivered, a special kind word, a phone call, or someone just stopping by to "be with us." God will use friends, acquaintances and even strangers to help us.

He will use events and circumstance to lighten our load and make the walk more bearable. He will personally be available to comfort and guide us, to give us wisdom in decision making, and to love us right where we are. He will bring those rays of light into the dark room of our lives, and help us through our time of need. But... we must do our part, however, and open our eyes to see the slivers of light He sends our way. He really... loves us very much, for we are His children, and He will never leave or forsake us.

I think God has been really very gracious to me. After experiencing so much joy for the past 7 days of holiday, I think God had really sort out my thoughts. I guess I have had nothing to blame on except myself for walking away from Him. What's so great to a person when what you are getting is no big deal and what you are losing is such a big loss?

Short Reading Of The Day - Afternoon

The below is taken from Daily Wisdom, contributed by
Sally I. Kennedy: sallyikennedy@bellsouth.net

God is our refuge and strength, an ever- present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

She was a cheerful, pleasant, person. Long hours, long nights, long weeks away from her new husband. And far, far away from her home, family, friends, and anything familiar. She had put all her trust and all her saving hope in the fellow who married her and brought her to this country. She leaned on him hard, looked to him for her every need.

Things seemed as if they were going pretty well. Then last week they found her. She nearly died from an attempted suicide. Drugs and alcohol were listed as the cause. But what really nearly killed her was disillusionment. Her trust and hope had been crushed beyond anything she could cope with. She had made her husband the 'everything' in her life. When he took up with a younger woman, her great giant hope crumbled.

People are just people; not perfect and not God. Sooner or later people will say or do something that doesn't meet our expectations and we will be disappointed. There is only One Hope that will never, ever fail us. We can count on Him. Jesus is, and will always be, there to trust and lean on. It's a promise! And it's for all who will believe in Him. That's good news.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that I can count on You, all the time. No matter what life throws my way, You are there for me, to walk me through it, and to comfort me.

Amen.
